Peter Davis


Peter Davis (born July 9, 1981) is a Malaysian actor, model and mixed martial artist best known for his role as Eric Tan in the award winning 2008 movie Sell Out!. Davis is the son of an English father and a Malaysian Chinese mother. He grew up in England and began his career in the finance industry before moving to Kuala Lumpur in 2006.
He also works as an occasional columnist for Men's Health (magazine), offering readers tips on style and fashion. In 2009 he was named by MSN Malaysia as one of the top ten rising stars in the world of entertainment in a feature which stated 'we expect great things from this cage-fighter turned model turned actor'. In 2011 he was named by MSN Singapore as one of 12 fighters that will take Southeast Asia by storm in 2012.
A friend suggested he try modelling and he entered a competition for Elite Modelling. He was subsequently spotted by Blitz Productions who put him on the catwalk for the first time at KL Fashion Week in 2006. Davis has starred in a number of TV commercials  for brands such as Nissan, Samsung, Mentos and Sony and is a runway model who has appeared at shows for Calvin Klein, Adidas, Levis, Canali, Roger Dubius and many more. He has also been a model coach on the Malaysian reality TV show I Wanna Be A Model (Season 3).

While fixing his car in Kuala Lumpur he was approached by Sell Out! Director Yeo Joon Han, who wanted to cast him as the hero in his debut feature. Sell Out! won numerous awards and Davis received widespread praise for his role as Eric Tan which also required him to sing, something he admits he is not particularly good at.
He began learning a martial art called 'Wuji Chuan' from a fellow Malaysian when he was 20 years old. He has continued to practise martial arts ever since and to teach a class in Kuala Lumpur.
He made his mixed martial arts debut against Masaya Doi and won by knockout after 0:59 at UKMMAC on 22 August 2004. His next fight was against Darren Guisha at UKMMAC on 24 November 2004. The fight was for the UKMMAC Welterweight title but Davis lost a unanimous decision.
Davis did not compete for two years until he faced Paul Broughton at UKMMAC 15 in May 2006 with the UKMMAC Welterweight title on the line again. This time Davis was victorious winning with a unanimous decision to become the UKMMAC Welterweight champion, a title he would never defend.
On December 10, 2011 Davis made a comeback, fighting for the first time in five years at Malaysian Fighting Championship in Kuala Lumpur. He defeated Nursultan Arsen Uule by rear naked choke in the opening round, afterwards he admitted he had done very little training for this fight.

n January 2012 it was announced that Davis has signed with ONE Fighting Championship. He made his debut at ONE Fighting Championship: Battle of Heroes at the BritAma Arena in Jakarta, Indonesia on February 11, 2012 againsy Indonesian wrestler Ngabdi Mulyadi. In an interview in January 2012 Davis stated that he was participating in a full-time training camp for the first time in his MMA career alongside experienced fighters such as Eric Kelly and Arnaud Lepont at Muayfit in Kuala Lumpur. He also said he would have no problem making the lightweight limit having previously competed as a welterweight. In an interview with MSN he stated that he had not fought for a long period of time because he had been busy with work commitments but that he wanted to fight again because a contract with ONE Fighting Championship was too good an opportunity to turn down. Davis won the fight via submission (triangle choke) in the third round.
On May 20, 2012 it was announced that Davis would be fighting Kim Hock from Singapore at ONE Fighting Championship: Destiny of Warriors at Stadium Negara in Kuala Lumpur on June 23. Davis won by TKO when, after stunning Hock with a spinning back kick, he finished him with a combination of knees and punches.
